Doctor Note Piccolo Repair
Meticulous piccolo repair provided by technicians Harold Steinhardt (a.k.a. Doctor Note) and Mark Farmer. With more than 40 years of combined experience in repairing fine woodwind instruments, Harold or Mark will make your piccolo sing.
Piccolo Play Condition
• Inspect body for straightness
• Examine pads for excessive wear and replace as needed*
• Check mechanism for proper movement
• Replace necessary key corks and felts
• Reseat pads
• Regulate & lubricate mechanism
• Test head cork for good seal and correct placement
• Check head and foot joints for proper fit
• Test play

Piccolo Tune-Up
  • Examine pads for excessive wear and replace as needed*
  • Check mechanism for proper movement
  • Disassemble mechanism
  • Bathe body & clean keys
  • Replace necessary key corks and felts
  • Refit mechanism between the posts eliminating key wobble or binding
  • Reseat pads
  • Regulate & lubricate mechanism
  • Test head cork for good seal and correct placement
  • Check head and foot joints for proper fit
  • Test play

Piccolo Mechanical Overhaul
  • Inspect body for straightness
  • Check mechanism for proper movement
  • Disassemble mechanism
  • Clean and hand polish body & keys
  • Replace all pads, corks, and felts
  • Replace necessary springs
  • Level-reface tone holes as needed
  • Refit mechanism between the posts eliminating key wobble or binding
  • Seat pads
  • Regulate mechanism
  • Replace head cork
  • Check head and foot joints for proper fit
  • Test play
